A man died and a child was shot multiple times and hospitalized after shots were fired into a home in Salisbury Saturday morning, police said.
Officers found the man after responding to a report of shots fired at a home at 128 Rowan Mill Road around 5:30 a.m., police Maj. Justin Crews said in a news release. Officers attempted to save the man, but he was soon pronounced dead.
Police learned the child was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center with life-threatening gunshot wounds and then transferred to another hospital. The child was in stable condition, police said.
No suspects have been arrested, police said, but evidence and other information indicate the shooting was not random.
“There is no immediate threat to the community identified, although we urge the community to remain vigilant,” police said.
Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to contact Lt. Brandon Casper at 704-638-5333, 704-638-5211 or by email at investigations@salisburync.gov.
