CANNON FALLS, Minn. – Two days after his trial, a Minnesota man entered a plea deal with Alford kidnapping of a woman who mistook him for a driver.

Daquarius Black pleaded guilty Tuesday in Goodhue County to one count of kidnapping and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, according to court records. The Alford plea allows a suspect to accept a plea bargain while maintaining his innocence.

On August 27, 2022, a woman got into Black’s car, thinking it was a ride. According to the complaint, Black did not let the woman out of the car and continued driving.

After she said she had to use the restroom, he pulled over at a Casey’s gas station in Cannon Falls, the complaint said. She locked herself in the restroom and asked employees to call police.

Black took off with the lead police on a chase at speeds of 120 miles per hour. Faribault police arrested him later that day and found the victim’s wallet and a gun in his car.

Black’s sentencing is scheduled for the morning of August 12.
