A man riding a skateboard died Monday night after he was struck by an SUV traveling in the same direction on Fair Oaks Boulevard in Carmichael, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Fair Oaks Boulevard, just west of Marshall Avenue, said Officer Justin Fetterly, a spokesman for the CHP North Sacramento Area Office.
He said a Chevrolet Suburban SUV was traveling westbound in the right lane on Fair Oaks, and a pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was also traveling westbound.
Fetterly said the Chevrolet SUV, driven by a man in his 20s, struck the skateboarder. The man on the skateboard was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s name and age after his family has been notified.
The CHP does not suspect alcohol or drugs played a role in the fatal crash. The investigation is ongoing, Fetterly said Tuesday.
