Man shot after going to the wrong address and driving into an ‘illegal marijuana farm’ in Butte County

A man was shot in Palermo on Saturday after accidentally driving into an illegal marijuana farm, the Bute County Sherrif’s Office said.

The BCSO dispatch received the call from the adult victim at 11 p.m. reporting that he had been shot. Officers located the victim and took him to a local hospital. He was later transferred by helicopter to an out-of-area hospital and is in stable condition.

The victim told investigators he drove to Alta Airosa Drive to meet a family member and was shot as he pulled into the driveway Saturday evening.

During a follow-up investigation, detectives determined that the driver used a ramp off Dunstone Drive to access the Alta Airosa address. After investigating, detectives found a large illegal marijuana farm on the property where the shooting occurred. The property was connected to two additional properties that also contained illegal marijuana farms.

The BCSO SWAT team served a search warrant at the three properties on Tuesday. During the search warrant service, detectives found a firearm, evidence related to the shooting and more than 1,200 marijuana plants.
