Man shot dead in front of granddaughter after confrontation with Little Havana burglar, police say

A man was shot while confronting a burglar across from his granddaughter in Little Havana, police say.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, officers found a 60-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds in an apartment in the 700 block of Southwest Fifth Street. The investigation shows that the man, whom police have not identified, was confronted by an intruder who had noticed his young granddaughter in the house.

That’s when a fight broke out and the grandfather was shot, police say. Miami Fire Rescue took him to Ryder Trauma Center, where he died.

However, the burglar ran off.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers of Miami-Dade & the Florida Keys at 305-471-8477 (TIPS) or by visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
