Police found dismembered body parts of a man allegedly murdered by his roommate at a home in Fort Myers, Florida
A Florida man was fatally shot by police who saw him climbing out the window of his home with a knife and holding the dismembered torso of his roommate.
Officers responded on Sunday, June 9, to a report of a woman and small children “hiding in a carport” in Fort Myers, Florida, local police said in a statement.
The woman, who was not identified in the affidavit, told authorities that her husband, Willy Lumaine, was “actively killing” their roommate in their home, according to the affidavit.
Authorities have not identified the victim, but his landlord told NBC 2 he was an older, blind man named Bonito Francois.
According to an incident report obtained by FOX 4, Lumaine, 33, had been angry for unknown reasons since the day before the murder. However, the landlord said Lumaine and the victim had an argument because the victim had refused to leave the house, according to NBC 2.
On the day of the incident, Lumaine left the home “because it was too hot,” according to the incident report, which was reviewed by PEOPLE. His wife fell asleep and woke up to screams for help.
The woman heard someone shouting, “Help! He’s killing me!” and out of fear, she escaped with her children, the report said.
She reportedly told their landlord that she heard the victim say, “Are you coming to kill me, Mr. Willy?” Why are you killing me? What have I done to you?’ the landlord told NBC 2.
When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a trail of blood and saw Lumaine carrying a large knife as he approached the window at the rear of the house, the incident report said. He smashed a window near one of the officers when he emerged with a knife and “a partially bloodied torso.”
Officers ordered him to drop the gun, but he “continued to use the knife to break the window” to get outside, the report said.
As he continued to ignore the officers’ commands, they deployed Tasers on him, the report alleges. But Lumaine continued to walk toward the officers and “lash out at them,” the report alleges.
Because Lumaine allegedly “refused their commands to drop the knife” despite being tasered, police said officers began shooting at him, the report said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

As the investigation continued, police found evidence of a violent attack at the home, including the roommate’s “mutilated and dismembered body parts” in several areas of the home, the department said in a statement.
They found the victim’s head and torso near a garbage can outside the home, the incident report said.
The investigation is ongoing. The officers responsible for the shooting have been placed on administrative leave as required by department policy, the department said in a statement.
