Massachusetts voters excited and concerned about the upcoming election

LYNNFIELD – A week before the presidential election, voters in Massachusetts said they feel excited and anxious – and ready for the 2024 election to end.

Voters say the election results worry them

After a whirlwind few months, including one switch to the Democratic candidate for president and multiple assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump, Massachusetts voters say they are ready for the election to end. How voters feel about the possible outcome depends on who you talk to.

WBZ-TV visited a golf course in Lynnfield where there were supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump and sentiments all over the fairway.

“I don’t think the Democrats have done a very good job. In fact, I think they stink. I think they’ve done a terrible job, you know, the inflation, the border,” said golfer Walter Roback.

Kamala Harris supporter Mark Mattera said he was concerned about the election results.

“I’m nervous because I think it’s a close race, and for me it shouldn’t be that way,” Mattera said.

One constant: stress

A new poll from the American Psychology Association shows that 77% of Americans are concerned about the future of the United States, and 69% are stressed about the election.

In Middleton, one of the minority towns in Massachusetts that voted for Trump in 2020, WBZ-TV went into a hair salon where border security and inflation were a major topic of discussion.

“Yes, I feel stressed about the future of our country, and I think things need to change,” says Lux Studio owner Michelle Rozopoulos.

“I feel like we’re all struggling financially, where you’re living paycheck to paycheck, and you see things just going up and up and you’re thinking, ‘How am I going to put food on the table?’ said hairstylist Donnie Mousseau.

In reliably Democratic Cambridge, WBZ-TV found Akujuobi Nwabeke, a disenchanted resident who has no intention of voting.

“If I had to choose the lesser of two evils based on policy, I would probably choose Trump. If I were to choose the lesser of two evils based on character, I would go with Kamala Harris,” he said. said.
