Massena men found dead Monday were shot

Dec. 3—MASSENA — State police said the two men found dead Monday in a Beach Street home suffered gunshot wounds.

The names of the victims have not been released. State police said an autopsy will be performed today by forensic pathologist Scott F. LaPoint at Canton-Potsdam Hospital to determine the cause and manner of death.

They said Massena police responded to 128 Beach St. on Monday and found two deceased men inside the home. Tax records show the property is owned by Anthony and Sheryl Truax.

State police responded at approximately 12:59 p.m. to assist Massena police with the investigation.

“When troopers arrived, they observed two deceased males with gunshot wounds. The New York State Troop B Forensic Investigation Unit was contacted to respond and process the scene,” state police said in a news release.

They said it was an isolated incident and not a threat to the community.

The investigation into the deaths continues. The New York State Police, St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office, Massena Police Department and St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department are conducting the investigation.
