Russian troops again launched massive air strikes with drones and missiles on Ukraine last night, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Friday.
A number of MiG-31 fighter jets equipped with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles had taken off, the report said.
Military observers said the Kinzhal missiles were fired at western Ukrainian targets near the Burshtyn heating plant and the Starokostiantyniv military airbase. A number of cruise missiles had also hit the Odessa region in southern Ukraine, they said.
There was initially no official confirmation.
Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko posted on Facebook that the energy sector was once again under heavy fire. Information on the damage caused would be provided as soon as the security situation allows, he said.
Power cuts have been introduced as a precaution in a number of regions to prevent overloading the electricity grid.
Four people were injured in the northeastern Kharkov region, the regional military governor, Oleh Syniehubov, reported on Telegram. Kharkov Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that a drone had hit a residential building.
Russian forces have repeatedly targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure during the cold winter months since launching their full-scale invasion in February 2022.
