MCPS holds first community meeting on school zone realignment

Marion County Public Schools has announced that two community meetings will be held soon regarding two new schools under construction.

In the southwest of the province, primary schools “W” and “X” are being built.

Officials plan to share information about the change of use of both schools.

School “W” will be located in the community of Marion Oaks, south of CR-484.

School “X” is under construction in the Winding Oaks area, south of SR-200.

District officials said both public meetings will include the same information, including:

The meeting dates, times and locations are as follows:

  • Thursday, September 12 at 6:00 PM: Sunrise Elementary School Cafeteria – 375 Marion Oaks Course, Ocala, Florida 34473

  • Monday, September 16 at 6:00 PM: Hammett Bowen Jr. Elementary School Cafeteria – 4397 SW 95 Street, Ocala, Florida 34476

According to organizers, families and students can ask questions of MCPS staff during these informal gatherings.

Both schools are expected to open in August 2025.
