Memorial ride honors Morgantown police officer killed in off-duty crash

On Saturday, motorcyclists in Fayette County took to the streets to honor a police officer who was killed last year.

Zane Breakiron, originally from Uniontown, worked as a police officer in Morgantown, West Virginia. He died in an off-duty accident on I-68 last June.

Bikers gathered at the Carmichaels American Legion to kick off the memorial ride. When they returned, organizers held a spaghetti dinner and auction.

Breakiron’s mother tells us he was an incredible person.

At his memorial, someone came through the door, because he was an officer in Morgantown, West Virginia, and said, “Who’s going to tell the homeless that Zane is gone?” because he was so special to everyone he met, he loved everyone he met,” Mindi Breakiron said.

Money raised during the event will be donated to Rooted Ministries Church and Charmichaels Riders, a Christian veterans motorcycle association.
