Memorial services planned for an area firefighter who was killed in a fight with a firefighter

Memorial services are planned for an area firefighter who died in a fire last week.

On-call hours for Winchester firefighter Rick Sanders, 48, are Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Winchester Fieldhouse on Thompson Street, according to his online obituary.

The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon.

As previously reported by News center 7Firefighters from Winchester, Indiana responded to a home in the 200 block of Watson Street on December 12.

Sanders didn’t feel it and left the building.

Fire officials said he went into cardiac arrest and was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rick Sanders Memorial Fund, according to his obituary.

He is survived by his wife and four children.
