The Mets expanded their outfield depth with acquisitions on Monday Jose Siri in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.
In return, he sends the Mets a 27-year-old right-hander Erik Orze to Tampa.
Siri, 29, has played parts of four seasons in the Majors, posting a career slash line of .210/.266/.408 with 54 home runs, 136 RBI and 43 stolen bases. Siri’s breakout season came in 2023, when he hit 25 home runs and had an OPS+ of 105. He had a down year in 2024, with an OPS+ of 76 and 18 home runs.
Siri is arbitration eligible and under team control through the 2027 season.
The right-handed hitter has played primarily in center field over the past three seasons, but also has experience in the corner outfield. Of Harrison Bader a free agent and Tyrone Taylor eligible for arbitration, Siri gives the Mets some extra insurance in center field.
