(CBS DETROIT) – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is warning residents not to eat Diamond-Shruumz products amid an investigation by the Food and Drug Administration.
Health officials said the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are investigating illnesses linked to Diamond Shruumz brand microdose chocolate bars, infused cones or microdose and macrodose gummies. The products state that they contain a mix of mushrooms, such as reishi and lion’s mane.
The FDA is investigating the cause of the diseases.

“Because these products resemble candy, we urge parents and guardians to discuss this information with their teens, even though they are intended for those aged 18 and over. We advise everyone to avoid these products,” says Dr . Michigan Chief Natasha Bagdasarian. medical director, said in a news release.
Officials said 26 illnesses were reported in 16 states. No cases have been reported in Michigan as of Tuesday.
The people who became ill reported symptoms such as seizures, central nervous system depression (loss of consciousness, confusion, drowsiness), agitation, abnormal heart rate, hyper/hypotension, nausea and vomiting.
Retailers are advised not to sell or distribute the products and to hold them until further notice from the FDA.
