Devereaux Johnson is currently facing a murder charge in the death of 35 year old Nathan MorrisPolice say Johnson would have shot Morris during a confrontation on August 11.
Johnson’s neighbors said they were not surprised by the possible second shooting.
“Scary, yes. Not necessarily surprising,” said Steve Glaspie. “I live close enough to him that I could hear him in his garage talking and talking really loudly. He was very inconsistent in his feelings and I’ve dealt with him on several occasions.”
Glaspie told CBS News Detroit that several other neighbors have had run-ins with Johnson over the years, and while they’re not surprised, they wish more had been done to prevent the deadly shooting in their neighborhood.
“It’s easy to say in hindsight that you just need to be a little more aware,” Glaspie said. “If a tragedy can be prevented, I’m all for it.”
CBS News Detroit has reached out to the Indiana State Police for an update on the case, but has not yet heard back.
