Midweek storms will break up a dry, warmer-than-normal week in Kansas City, the National Weather Service said.
Starting on Veterans Day, temperatures this week will be in the low 60s with mostly sunny skies. The weather will be up to 10 degrees warmer than average. Normally this time of year, Kansas City sees temperatures in the mid-50s.
Nighttime temperatures will drop to the upper 30s on Monday and to the upper 40s on Tuesday.
It will remain dry for the first half of the week.
Rain on the way
“Rain chances return late Tuesday night into Wednesday, with only modest precipitation accumulation likely,” the weather service said in its forecast discussion. Overall, less than a quarter inch of rain is expected.
Scattered showers are expected on Wednesday, but showers are likely to end by mid-afternoon.
Nighttime temperatures will drop back into the upper 30s.
Warm and dry weather lasting into the weekend
A warming trend will start Thursday and continue into the weekend.
Temperatures will be in the low 60s on Thursday and mid 60s on Friday and Saturday.
The weather service said more clouds and wind will return Saturday as another weather system approaches.
A cold front will move into the area Sunday and “will reintroduce rain chances for our region Sunday and Sunday night,” the weather service said.
