Lucic is currently ineligible to play in the NHL after being arrested in Boston last November for assault and battery. He pleaded not guilty and the charges were later dropped in February after his wife refused to testify.
In order for Lucic to return and become eligible to play in the NHL, he must receive approval from NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. Lucic is currently in the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program.
Could this mean the Devils plan to sign Lucic to a PTO once he is cleared to play in the NHL?

It would make sense based on the offseason moves the Devils have made. They’ve added a lot of size and grit to their lineup, and adding Lucic would help them even more. Or is he just training in New Jersey with his buddies?
Only time will tell what the future holds for Lucic and his hockey career.
