Minerva starts raising money for painting work in the house

Minerva residents are eligible for a new program to help them paint their homes.

The Make Minerva More program is a partnership between the Village of Minerva, Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio, Minerva Community Charitable Fund and Hope Community.

The residential painting initiative starts with a fundraising campaign. The money raised will help residents living within the village limits on State Route 183 and U.S. Route 30 with exterior painting projects they otherwise could not afford.

Donations of up to $50,000 will be matched by Habitat for Humanity ECO.

“This competition will allow us to paint the maximum number of houses possible,” said Jerame Patterson, president of Make Minerva More. “With donations from wonderful organizations such as the VFW, Rotary, RC Miller Foundation, Minerva Football Alumni and Habitat for Humanity, the sky is the limit for the number of houses we can paint. If you need help painting the exterior but today’s high costs are keeping you from doing so, please contact us in the village for an inquiry.”

Donations can be made directly to Habitat or through the Minerva Community Charitable Fund, and all donors will be recognized on a Giving Wall at City Hall. Sponsors at the $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000 levels will be recognized with their company logo on a sponsorship banner that will be displayed at local events.

The painting projects will begin next spring and funds will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more information, to donate or to secure an application, contact City Hall, 330-868-7705, ext. 158.
