A court in Rwanda has given a beauty queen a three-month suspended sentence for driving under the influence and driving without a license.
Divine Muheto, who won the most recent Miss Rwanda pageant, was also fined 190,000 Rwandan francs ($140; £109).
Ms Muheto crashed her car into an electricity pole and a palm tree last month while driving home from a bar in the capital Kigali, according to local site New Times.
A statement at the time said she fled the scene, but the court acquitted her of the charge.
She was not present at the trial, and neither was the prosecutor who sought a two-year prison sentence for her.
After eighteen days in police custody, the judge ordered her immediate release.
It is not clear whether the Public Prosecution Service will appeal the verdict.
Ms Muheto has not commented publicly on the incident. But her lawyers say she has expressed remorse and asked for forgiveness.
According to the police in the East African country, this is not the first time that the 21-year-old has driven under the influence of alcohol.
She rose to fame in Rwanda after winning the national beauty pageant in 2022.
The competition has not been held since. The competition was suspended by the government after allegations of sexual misconduct were made against the organizers.
Drunk driving carries a fine of 150,000 Rwandan francs ($110; £85) and five days in custody.
Thousands of people have been arrested for this crime in recent years as police have started enforcing the law.
