Missing New Berlin man found dead after crash in Chicago area

New Berlin police confirmed Saturday that a man who had been missing since Thursday was found dead in his overturned vehicle in an Illinois creek.

Police said Benjamin Oberto of New Berlin was located Friday about 3:40 p.m. by Illinois State Police near eastbound Interstate 90 and northbound Interstate 294 near that area in Chicago. Oberto died on the spot.

Oberto was a father of two and was last seen leaving a restaurant in Crystal Lake, Illinois, surveillance footage showed.

His wife, Laura Leatherberry, told WISN-TV in Milwaukee that she last heard from her husband Wednesday evening when he said he would be home in time to put their 3-year-old son to sleep.
