MLS has released the schedule for the 2025 regular season, which kicks off Saturday, February 22 with 13 matches and will see the league’s 30th and newest franchise – San Diego FC – open against defending champion Los Angeles Galaxy.
Under the 2025 schedule, all 30 teams will play 34 games (17 home, 17 away) and will play conference opponents twice, as well as six different cross-conference opponents.
Some highlights from the newly released schedule:

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, the defending Supporters’ Shield winners, open their season at home against New York City FC on February 22.

Leagues Cup, the CONCACAF tournament between LIGA MX and MLS teams, will take place from July 29 to August. 31. The change this year is that it will be held during the regular seasons of both leagues. You no longer have to interrupt the competition schedules to complete the matches.

MLS season shall however, pause for the FIFA Club World Cup and CONCACAF Gold Cup between June 15 and 24, with a number of venues used for both tournaments. Inter Miami and the Seattle Sounders are participating in the Club World Cup.

MLS Decision Day, the final day of the regular season, takes place on Saturday, October 18, with Eastern Conference teams playing at 6:00 PM ET and Western Conference matches starting at 9:00 PM ET. In the only interconference match that day, NYCFC will host the Seattle Sounders.

In honor of the 30th season of MLS, the San Jose Earthquakes will host DC United on April 6, on the 29th anniversary of the league’s first-ever match. A rematch of the first MLS Cup between the Galaxy and DC United will take place on July 12.

Austin FC will host this season’s All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 23. The day before will see the return of the MLS Skills Challenge. The format of the game has not yet been announced. Last season, a LIGA MX All-Star team defeated the MLS All-Stars 4-1 in Columbus, Ohio.
