Mom relives a recent graduate’s shooting at Boston Seaport

Just days after her daughter was shot in broad daylight in the Seaport District, a mother spoke out as her 18-year-old recovered.

The mother, who wished to remain anonymous, told Boston 25 that her daughter graduated from Boston Collaborative High School during an event at the Seaport on Thursday.

After her daughter received her diploma, the mother said she noticed an altercation during the ceremony.

“A child started talking to someone else,” she explained.

The mother said her daughter went to a parking garage on Pier 4 Boulevard shortly after graduation. Alongside her boyfriend and aunt, the group reportedly got into the aunt’s car.

“When my daughter got into the car, the bullet hit her in the hip,” the mother explained.

She told Boston 25 that she was waiting for the car outside the parking garage and discovered her daughter had been shot as they drove the car toward Northern Avenue.

She added: “I screamed and screamed. I thought I was going to lose my daughter… She was just pale and trying to stay alive.”

The mother and other family members reportedly tried to stop the bleeding as an ambulance and police arrived on the scene.

Boston police have not yet announced any arrests in connection with the incident.

According to the mother, there is no connection between the suspect and her daughter. She added that she is not sure where the argument and violence ended.

The 18-year-old was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and released Saturday.

The mother told Boston 25 that her daughter can only walk on one leg, has nerve damage and a broken pelvis.

She called for justice and denounced the violence.

She ended with, “I would have lost my daughter for no reason.”

Boston police say they are still investigating the incident.
