We’re halfway through the week and weather conditions are finally starting to improve after a week of gray skies. Although we will see more clouds than sun on Wednesday, it will be clearer in the afternoon and our skies will be sunny on Thursday.
The later part of the week will be beautiful, with highs in the mid 70s. One or two spots may even reach 80 degrees before the week is over! It now looks like the warm and sunny weather will continue through the weekend with highs in the upper 70s before another front brings a chance of showers on Monday.
As for the tropics, we now have Tropical Storm Kirk to watch. It is forecast to become a major hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean this week. For now, it looks like it will remain over open water. We also continue to monitor the developing region over the Caribbean, the Bay of Campeche and the southern Gulf of Mexico. Conditions are favorable for the development of another tropical system later this week. This is the same region Helene just came from. It’s too early to tell where a system will track, but the entire Gulf Coast will be on alert again. As of Tuesday evening, the National Hurricane Center has given the storm a 40% chance of developing over the next seven days.
As always, the NEXT Weather team will stay ahead of the storm for you and your family and warn you of potential impacts.
