As part of the latest group of players to be cut from their team and placed on waivers on October 3, two more former Chicago Blackhawks are among them. These are players who played on the team last season and the Blackhawks have moved on from both.
Jarred Tinordi was cut from the Flames after signing a one-year deal on September 10 and Jaycob Megna was cleared off waivers by the Florida Panthers, who signed him on July 5.
Tinordi, 32, played his final two seasons in Chicago, logging 96 games. He was one of the veterans who was there to play games when the rookies were struggling.
The tough defender is primarily focused on defense and plays a physical game that is difficult to play against. He should be one of the first call-ups for the Flames if they need help during the season.
Megna was picked up by the Blackhawks last season after the team needed reinforcements. He played just two games for the Seattle Kraken AHL team before finishing the season with 44 games for Chicago.
He is also more defensively focused, but it is the second season in a row in which he has been exempted. Megna provides defensive depth for the Panthers, but may not appear in many games in the NHL this season.

Both Tinordi and Megna should have been nothing more than depth for the Blackhawks last season, but injuries and the fact that most of the young defensemen weren’t ready really threw a wrench into the plans.
