Officials in South Carolina are actively searching for more than 40 primates that escaped from a facility on Wednesday.

According to the Yemassee Police Department in South Carolina, 43 rhesus monkey primates have escaped from the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center on Castle Hall Road.
The website says the facility provides non-human primate products and global bioresearch services.

None of the monkeys have been captured at this time. Yemassee police have set up traps in the area to safely capture the animals. The department said it is also using thermal imaging cameras to help find the monkeys.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is also assisting in the search.
According to the police, there are no health risks associated with the monkeys.
Authorities are asking residents to keep doors and windows tightly closed to prevent the animals from entering their homes.
If you see escaped primates, do not approach them and call 911 immediately.
