Oct. 26—A 38-year-old motorcyclist died Friday evening after a crash on Interstate 5 near Grand Mound, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The Duvall man, who has not yet been publicly identified pending notification of next of kin, was driving south on a 2006 Suzuki GSXR 600 around 8 p.m. when the crash occurred. According to the State Patrol, the motorcycle struck a 2007 GMC Yukon driven by a 31-year-old Lakewood woman near mile marker 88 and then struck the right barrier.
The motorcycle came to a stop on the road and the Yukon stopped on the right shoulder.
The Duvall man died at the scene.
The Lakewood woman and her 35-year-old female passenger were not injured.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. According to the State Patrol, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
The highway was blocked for four hours and fifteen minutes.
