A motorcyclist died Friday after a crash in the Myrtle Beach area.
Deaths occur during the Myrtle Beach Fall Bike Rally, which brings thousands of bikers to the area. It runs until Sunday, October 6.
It is unclear whether the motorcyclist attended the rally events.
The crash occurred at 8:36 p.m. on SC 31 near SC 701, according to Cpl. Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The driver of a 2005 Harley-Davidson was driving on the SC 31 ramp at northbound SC 707 when the person ran off the road and struck an embankment, Pye said.
The driver died from his injuries, Pye said. The driver’s name was not released.
One passenger was transported to a hospital with injuries.
