MSP video shows the moment the semi truck left the road and hit a construction vehicle on US 127

DELHI TWP. – The driver of a truck that crashed Monday afternoon, shutting down southbound U.S. 127, has been cited, Michigan State Police said.

The MSP First District Post shared video and photos of the crash on X Tuesday afternoon. The video shows the double-trailer gravel truck driving through a construction zone in a single-lane area before hitting a parked vehicle.

One person in the parked truck suffered minor injuries, MSP said.

Around 12:30 a.m. Monday, the truck driver left the road, overcorrected and lost control of his vehicle, the MSP said in the online post.

The second trailer fishtailed and hit a stationary truck carrying two road workers. The driver of the truck was cited for careless driving in a construction zone.

“(This is a) reminder of the importance of slowing down and paying attention in construction zones. This crash could have been much worse,” MSP said.

MDOT said Monday that the highway was closed near Exit 73/Dunckel Road from about 1 p.m. to 4:36 p.m.
