Officials with the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans confirmed Monday afternoon that State Route 9 near Saratoga is closed in both directions due to a mudslide.
The 511 SF Bay and Sanborn Rd. in Santa Clara County.
Caltrans also posted about the closure with a photo showing crews working in the area of the slide.
Caltrans said the estimated time to reopen the roadway is Wednesday.
Caltrans crews had already had full closures on the route daily for a week between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. to remove fallen trees and debris, clear the drainage system and re-grade debris above the highway. Officials noted that work was weather dependent and was reduced somewhat due to recent rainfall.
