Mukwonago School Board Member Vito Schwartz found dead in his home

A Mukwonago school board member, who served on the board for almost four years, was found dead in his home on Friday.

The Mukwonago Area School District announced in a statement Saturday that Vito Schwartz died Friday. He is survived by four children, all of whom graduated from Mukwonago High School or are current students, the district said in a statement.

“Vito was an outspoken supporter of our district,” Joe Koch, superintendent of the Mukwonago Area School District, said in the district’s statement. “In addition to his work on our school board, Vito was active in the community as co-owner of Semper Fi Roofing and a proud Marine Corps veteran. He will be greatly missed. We have a strong community and will cope with the loss of Vito together. ”

It is unclear at this time if Schwartz’s death is related to information contained in a news release the City of Mukwonago Police Department sent to the Journal Sentinel.

According to the department’s news release, officers were dispatched to a home on County Highway E near County Highway EE on Friday afternoon for a report of two deaths. They found a 45-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman, both dead from gunshot wounds from a small caliber firearm.

There was no forced entry, the police are not looking for suspects and there is no danger to the community. The investigation is ongoing and the department is not releasing the names of the man and woman, according to a news release from the Mukwonago City Police Department.
