Police have arrested a Murfreesboro man in connection with a fatal crash that killed an Army veteran on September 24 at West Main Street and Castle Heights Avenue in Lebanon.
Terry Elmore, 41, is charged with aggravated murder for his involvement in the crash that killed Juanita “Marie” Pedigo Birdsong, 58, according to police.
The accident happened in the evening hours and involved three vehicles. Birdsong, who was also a wife and mother, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Elmore suffered serious injuries and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, police said.
He was arrested by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Wilson County Jail on a $400,000 bond, police said.
According to her obituary, Marie Birdsong was born in Dallas. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, David Birdsong, and three children.
Marie Birdsong served in the U.S. Army before embarking on a career in healthcare information technology, and she loved the color pink, according to her obituary.
The case remains open, but further details were not immediately available at the time of this story going to press.
