Elon Musk endorsed former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, telling a cheering crowd that “nothing is more important” than voting for him.
“President Trump must win to preserve the Constitution. He has to win to preserve democracy in America,” said the Silicon Valley scion turned Trump super-supporter, adding that a victory for the Democrats would make this the “last election.”
Musk – the head of Tesla, SpaceX and of Trump’s assassination attempt. raised his fist and wrote, “I fully support President Trump and hope for his speedy recovery.”
“The true test of a man’s character is how he behaves under fire, and we had a president who couldn’t climb a flight of stairs and another who was pumping his fists after being shot,” Musk said Saturday.
When Musk walked onto the stage, the crowd of thousands jumped to its feet and cheered, a highlight for a gathering that was unusually somber at other times.
During the 2024 election cycle, Musk has been instrumental in helping the former president, posting praise for Trump on social media while attacking Democrats and Vice President Kamala Harris, including a now-deleted post in which he said: “No one is right trying to kill Biden/Kamala.”
In July, the billionaire said he would donate $45 million a month to a super PAC supporting Trump, although he has since scaled back that pledge. Musk also backs America PAC, which is largely responsible for Trump’s ground game in battleground states.
In August, at a trouble-filled event, Musk interviewed Trump on X; Last month, Trump suggested he would give Musk a government position that would essentially make him an American oligarch.
“Vote, vote, vote,” Musk sang. “Fight, fight, fight.”
