Grand Canyon National Park has proposed a price increase for three of its campgrounds on the North Rim and is asking for public feedback through the end of the year.
The planned price increase would affect Desert View, Mather and North Rim campgrounds, which have maintained the same rates for the past two decades, a National Park Service news release said Thursday.
The NPS proposed increasing the current camping fee of $18 per night for tent and RV users to $30 per night. A half off discount for Senior and Access pass holders would remain in place under new changes, along with dedicated group and walk-in sites.
The proposed price increase for the three campsites, if implemented, would take effect on April 1, 2025, according to the press release.
Here’s how to send NPS feedback about the proposed price increase
Until December 15, the public could send NPS feedback on the proposed increase.
Campers could go online to a special webpage for the increase and leave a comment.
Send written feedback to: Grand Canyon National Park, Attn: Visitor Resource and Protection, PO Box 129, Grand Canyon, AZ 86023.
What are camping fees used for?
The NPS said 80% of camping fees were retained by Grand Canyon National Park to “help improve the visitor experience, service facilities and safety.”
According to the NPS, there were 159,000 overnight stays in tents and 84,332 RVs at the Grand Canyon.
