June 19 – A significant ridge of high pressure will cause temperatures to rise in the Southeast for the rest of this week, and in the Decatur area they will likely peak on Sunday with highs around 39 degrees, according to Rebecca Darish, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Huntsville.
Currently, the pressure system is concentrated over the northeast. Burlington, Vermont, at the center of the system, is experiencing temperatures 15 to 16 degrees above normal for this time of year.
The forecast wind chill in the Decatur area, a combination of temperature and dew point, will reach 103 degrees this weekend.
