The White House Tribal Nations Summit will be held on Monday, December 9
As Native News Online previously reported, the White House Tribal Nations Summit will take place on Monday, December 9 in Washington, DC. The White House announced Wednesday that President Joe Biden will address the summit. Last year, Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the assembled tribal leaders. There has been no official announcement yet as to whether or not she will be speaking this year.

Funding Option: USFS Wood Products Infrastructure Assistance (WPIA) grant program
The USDA Forest Service announces the availability of up to $20 million in financial assistance to facilities that purchase and process byproducts from ecosystem restoration projects in areas at risk of unnaturally severe wildfires or insect or disease infestations.
The Wood Products Infrastructure Assistance provides funding that can be used to support facilities that purchase and process byproducts from ecosystem restoration projects. This includes applications to establish, reopen, modernize, expand, or improve a sawmill or other timber processing facility in close proximity to Federal or Indian lands that require ecosystem restoration and will generate byproducts. The focus is on areas with unnaturally severe fire or insect or disease infestations with high or very high priority for ecological restoration. This program is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
The deadline for applying for financial aid is Wednesday, December 18, 2024, 5:00 PM local time.
