NATO stands behind Turkey, alliance chief tells the Turkish president

NATO stands with Turkey after four people were killed in an attack on a defense company in Ankara, Secretary General Mark Rutte told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan by telephone.

“Deeply disturbing reports of deaths and injuries in Ankara,” Rutte said in his first response to reports of the attack in a post on X.

“We strongly condemn terrorism in all its forms and are closely monitoring developments,” he added. Turkey has been a member of NATO since 1952.

Police and emergency workers respond to the attack on the Turkish aerospace company TUSAS, a developer and manufacturer of space systems such as fighter planes and drones.
