Near-record warmth for Memorial Day in Central Florida

The heat continues to increase for Memorial Day in Central Florida, with highs in the upper 90s and pleasant temperatures into the 100s.

The National Weather Service said the region is approaching record highs for Monday as rain chances are not present for most of the area on Monday.

Heat index values range from 98 to 107 degrees Fahrenheit.

“A moderate to high heat risk is expected,” writes the NWS in Melbourne. “Heat at this level can affect anyone without adequate cooling or hydration. There are possible consequences for healthcare systems where there are moderate values and probably also high values.”

Overnight lows are expected to be in the low to mid 70s.

Some moisture is expected to creep toward the Florida peninsula as rain chances begin to increase as the week progresses.
