At least 71 people were killed by Israeli strikes in Lebanon on Friday, authorities said on Saturday, bringing the total number of fatalities to almost 3,000 since fighting broke out between Israel and the Hezbollah militia more than a year ago.
The Lebanese Health Ministry said another 169 people were injured across Lebanon on Friday.
The highest number of victims were reportedly killed in attacks in the northeast of the country, with at least 52 people killed.
The Ministry of Health usually does not announce the total number of victims until the evening of the next day.
At least 2,968 people, including 183 minors, have been killed and 13,319 injured since fighting broke out between the Israeli army and pro-Iranian Hezbollah in Lebanon following the October 7 attacks on Israel.
The ministry’s figures make no distinction between civilians and Hezbollah fighters.
