Neighbors are shocked after a shooting at a Penn Hills bar left two people dead and seven others injured.

>>> 2 people killed, 7 injured in shooting in Penn Hills, police say

An argument at Ballers Hookah Lounge and Cigar Bar escalated into a deadly shooting early Sunday morning, according to Allegheny County police.

“You’re arguing? Okay, walk away. You don’t have to bring out the guns all the time, we can get enough of them,” said neighbor Rena Parrotte.

Parrotte tells Channel 11 she received text messages early Sunday morning from friends concerned about her well-being.

That’s how she initially heard about the fatal shooting at the bar directly across the street on the 3500 block of Laketon Road.

“I’m still praying and hoping everyone is doing well. Then I watched the news,” Parrotte said.

She heard about the shooting on local news programs.

Police closed part of the road while investigating the shooting. Relatives of a man working at the bar arrived on scene and told us they had not heard from him.

“That’s the saddest thing, people trying to give you places to go at a certain time and enjoy yourself, and then look what happened here,” Parrotte said.

Detectives believe at least two people fired weapons.

A man and a woman were shot dead and seven others were injured. One of the victims is in critical condition, the rest are expected to survive.

“Pittburgh has too much to live for, things are coming. And things to come, and we don’t want to discourage all these good things from coming to Pittsburgh. Because… we’re acting stupid,” Parrotte said.

Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit are leading the investigation. Anyone with information about what happened at Baller’s Lounge should call police at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
