Neoen insures 164MWp solar and agrisolar projects in France

French renewable energy developer Neoen has secured seven solar and ‘agrisolar’ projects totaling 164 MWp in the latest tender round of the French Energy Regulation Commission.

These victories strengthen Neoen’s position in the ground-mounted solar power plant sector in France, with a cumulative amount of 642 MWp awarded in the PPE21 tenders.

The developer’s secured capacity in France now exceeds 2.5 GW, with the new solar power plants scheduled for commissioning between 2026 and 2029.

The 73 MWp Tourneuve project is scheduled for 2032 due to upcoming network upgrades by the grid operator.

Neoen said it will work with local and national authorities in several French regions to ensure projects are in line with community acceptance, energy needs and environmental objectives.

Guillaume Decaen, Neoen business development director for France, said: “We are extremely proud of this achievement.

“I would like to thank all our local stakeholders for their help in obtaining the necessary approvals and the farmers for their confidence in us.

“2023 was a record year for Neoen in France, with almost 500 MW of solar and wind capacity awarded in the CRE tenders.”

The awarded projects include four ‘agrivoltaic’ sites, demonstrating Neoen’s focus on integrating renewable energy generation with agricultural practices.

Xavier Barbaro, CEO of Neoen, said: “I would like to congratulate the Neoen team on this success, which reflects our continued commitment to developing high-quality projects.

“Thanks to our significant pipeline in solar, wind and storage, we are committed to further strengthening our contribution to the energy transition, in France and around the world.”

In April this year, Neoen started the construction of three solar power stations in Italy with a total capacity of 24.7MW.
