Dennis Schröder is on his way to the bay.

The Golden State Warriors traded for Brooklyn Nets guard Dennis Schröder on Saturday afternoon ESPN’s Shams Charania. In return, the Nets get De’Anthony Melton and three future second-round draft picks. The Warriors also get a future second-round pick in the deal.

The deal becomes official on Sunday, once the pre-season trading window opens.

Schröder averaged 18.4 points and 6.6 assists per game this season, his first full game with the Nets. They traded him to the Toronto Raptors midway through last season. The Warriors are now Schröder’s eighth team in his 12 seasons in the league. Schröder is in the final year of a two-year, $25.4 million deal he initially signed with the Raptors prior to last season.

The Nets have just a 10-15 record and have lost five of their last six heading into Monday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Nets officially hired Jordi Fernandez as head coach in April after he missed the playoffs for the first time in six years last season. The team has won just one playoff series in that span.

Melton averaged 10.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game with the Warriors this season, his first with the team. He signed a one-year, $12.8 million contract with the team last offseason after spending the past two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers. Melton went down last month with a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the recovery season.

The Warriors have a 14-10 record entering Sunday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. They reached the quarterfinals of the NBA Cup, but were eliminated by the Houston Rockets in a one-point loss, leaving coach Steve Kerr furious with the referees. Schröder’s arrival should give them a significant boost offensively as they look to return to the play-offs for the third time in the last four seasons.
