New Jersey lottery player wins $1 million in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing

A New Jersey lottery player won $1 million playing Mega Millions.

According to the Mega Millions website, two tickets matched the five white balls on Friday night to win second-tier prizes.

The New Jersey ticket won $1 million, while the California ticket won $309,281. This is because non-jackpot prizes in the state are based on actual sales in the jurisdiction.

It was not immediately known where in NJ the winning ticket was sold; the California ticket was sold in West Sacramento.

The last time the jackpot was won was on September 10, when a lottery player in Texas won $810 million. That’s the seventh-largest Mega Millions ever.

Mega Millions reaches $62 million

No one won the jackpot in Friday’s drawing, so the jackpot is expected to grow to $62 million, with an option of $31 million for Tuesday’s drawing.

How do I play Mega Millions?

The cost is $2 per ticket, but for $1 you can add the Megaplier, which increases the amount of your potential prize up to five times the original prize (excluding the jackpot).

Each player chooses five numbers from 1 to 70 for the white balls and one number from 1 to 25 for the Mega Ball. However, you can also let the lottery machine generate a random Quick Pick for you. You do not have to be a US citizen or a resident of a particular state where you buy your ticket.

What does cash option mean?

The major lotteries in the United States offer two jackpot payout options: annuity and cash.

The annuity option is paid out over time. There is an immediate payment and then 29 annual payments, increasing by 5% each year. The cash option is significantly lower than the advertised jackpot, but is paid out all at once. You don’t have to wait decades for all the money.

Can a jackpot winner remain anonymous?

In some states, such as New Jersey, you can win the lottery anonymously. That wasn’t always the case, but now winners can remain anonymous under a law signed by Governor Phil Murphy. In other states, a winner’s name and hometown are public record. Contact your state lottery agency for more information.
