NEW ULM, Minn. — A man was seriously injured Wednesday night after being run over by a tractor in southern Minnesota.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office reports receiving multiple 911 calls from Shirley’s Park reporting a person had been run over by a tractor at 6:25 p.m.

A 57-year-old New Ulm man was driving the loader tractor to remove trees and was standing in front of the tractor’s right rear tire when it jumped into a forward gear and ran him over, investigators said. He was taken to the hospital by air ambulance.

The driverless tractor continued on its way and collided with a nearby camper and two vehicles.

A 72-year-old Texas woman also suffered minor injuries after being struck by an unknown object.

The incident is under investigation.
