New York man killed after vehicle hits concrete barrier on I-95 and rolls onto roof

A New York man was killed Tuesday when the vehicle he was riding in crashed into a concrete barrier on Interstate 95 in Norwalk during a rollover crash.

State troopers received several 911 calls reporting the crash on I-95 South in the area of ​​Exit 16 shortly before 3:40 p.m., according to Connecticut State Police.

A preliminary investigation revealed that 63-year-old Tiofilo Cruz was driving a 2023 Nissan Altima in the right lane of three when the vehicle left the right side of the highway and struck a concrete Jersey barrier, state police said. The vehicle then rolled onto its roof.

According to state police, Cruz, the Altima’s sole occupant, was taken to Norwalk Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:24 p.m.

The crash is still under investigation.
