NFL Week 17: League Uses Dolphins-Browns for Commanders-Falcons on ‘SNF,’ Announces Saturday Schedule

The NFL has made several moves regarding the Week 17 schedule, including postponing the “Sunday Night Football” game on Dec. 29.

Instead of the Dolphins-Browns, the Commanders and Falcons will play on Sunday evening. The decision moves the already eliminated Browns and a Dolphins team that will likely be eliminated from the playoffs outside of prime time to 4:05 PM ET.

The Commanders are in position for a wild card spot, while the Falcons are one game behind the Buccaneers in the race for the NFC South crown.

The league also announced three Saturday games for December 28. Chargers-Patriots are at 1:00 PM ET, Broncos-Bengals are at 4:00 PM ET and Cardinals-Rams are at 8:00 PM ET. All three games will air on NFL Network.

The Chargers, Broncos and Rams are all in position to make the postseason, having believed their respective opponent in each game was either already eliminated or unlikely to make the playoffs.

The three games were selected from five Saturday flex options that the NFL had previously designated. Colts-Giants and the Commanders-Falcons game rescheduled for Sunday night were also options. Colts-Giants will instead be played on December 29 at 1:00 PM ET.
