The NHL unveiled several new masks for the upcoming season on Wednesday afternoon. One of the masks featured some Curtis Joseph-esque features, such as the eyes and teeth, that the goalie wore while with Toronto.

The new mask was created by Dave Art, an artist who paints helmets for many NHL goalies. Woll’s mask from last season had the Maple Leafs logo painted on it and eagles on either side of his head, where his ears are.

Before that helmet, the 26-year-old had a mask with a blue brick wall, a Maple Leafs logo on top and what appeared to be wings on the sides. Ilya Samsonov had painted a similar mask last season but changed it after a rough start.

Woll signed a three-year, $10.98 million extension on July 1 that carries an average annual value of $3.66 million and begins after next year. His cap hit for the 2024-25 season is $766,667.

The goalie played a career-high 25 games with the Maple Leafs last year, winning 12 and posting a .907 save percentage. Woll suffered two separate injuries last season; a high ankle sprain that kept him out of the lineup for nearly three months and a back sprain late in Game 6 against the Boston Bruins.

Woll has a 21-13-1 record and a .912 save percentage in 36 NHL games. Toronto’s goalies for next season are Woll, Anthony Stolarz, Matt Murray and possibly Dennis Hildeby if he is recalled due to injuries.
