Nikki Glaser had a clear plan when she prepared to host the 2025 Golden Globes, and it worked very well.
The 40-year-old comedian was widely praised for her hosting duties at Sunday’s star-studded event — so much so that the Globes will reportedly be back next year. With a pay increase.
On Monday, Glaser revealed that she received less compensation than 2023 host Jerrod Carmichael, but that she was “fine” with that.
Before the Jan. 5 show, Glaser told Yahoo Entertainment that she wanted to set a certain tone with her opening monologue early in the evening.
“These people deserve respect,” she said of celebrities in the audience, further explaining that she did not mean to “kiss” on stage during the show.
Glaser was funny, but kept within bounds. Apparently she will be rewarded for this approach.
Glaser returns for Golden Globes 2026
Deadline reports that barring “a global disaster,” the comedian will host again next year. A source added that Glaser received $400,000 for this year’s show, and that this amount will increase “significantly.”
Glaser has apparently signed a three-year deal with the Globes ahead of the 2025 show, and according to the report, she has the support both internally and (certainly) on social media to be brought back.
What have other hosts created?
When Carmichael was asked to host the scandal-ridden event in 2023, he revealed in his opening monologue that he was paid $500,000. Glaser remembered the figure, but said she wasn’t bothered by not getting the same compensation.
“There was a past host who said in his monologue how much he got paid, and I got less than that, but that’s OK,” Glaser said. The Howard Stern Show on Monday. “I’ll get more next year.”
Glaser explained that she would have done it “for free” the first time.
“I feel well paid for what I do,” she added. “I’m doing fine.”
For what it’s worth, other awards shows – like the Oscars – don’t pay anywhere near those figures. Jimmy Kimmel revealed in March that he was paid $15,000 to host.
“I think even most people would think, ‘Wait, how many months of work is this, for $15,000?'” he said on CBS Sunday morning.

Glaser did the work
Glaser really prepared for Sunday’s show, and it paid off. She explained to Yahoo Entertainment that she wouldn’t “go so hard” on celebrities “that anyone would be offended. I made it clear that I wouldn’t do that.”
“I don’t think they need to be nervous,” she told Yahoo. “I’d say get ready to laugh.”
They laughed. Glaser’s opening monologue was well received in the audience, although her Diddy line confused some people. Overall, the stars, including Timothée Chalamet, Glen Powell, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, were good sports when called up.
Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss, who produced this year’s show, praised Glaser for “putting in the work.”
“She literally did four or five shows a night for three weeks in LA and other cities to prepare for this. And she tested out a lot of the jokes and knew what worked and what didn’t work, and her team went to her and said, Oh, that joke will work here, or it won’t, or maybe it’s too internal, just the people in the room will understand him, but people at home won’t understand him,” Kirshner told The Hollywood Reporter.
“[Glaser] I refined it down to the ones that did work,” Kirshner continued, “and so she did a great job, and then she hit us with a few curveballs along the way, but that was fine too.” They ended up being funny, like ‘Pope-ular.'” He was referring to a bit where Glaser started a song and then cut it off, in response to what seemed like a comment in her earpiece that the shtick wasn’t like that. landing.
