‘Nobody pushes me out’

  • President Joe Biden disrupted a Zoom call with his employees to boost morale, Politico reported.

  • During the phone call, he told his staff that no one wants to push him out and that he plans to continue with his current policies.

  • His comments come as he faces increasing Pensure he leaves the 2024 race in favor of a younger replacement.

President Joe Biden held a Zoom call with his aides on Wednesday to boost morale and reassure them that he will not back down, Politico reported.

The president held a phone call with his campaign staff and Democratic National Convention staff on Wednesday, citing anonymous staffers in the conversation.

Sitting next to Vice President Kamala Harris, he told his aides that no one would “push” him out of the re-election race.

“Let me say this as clearly as I can, as simply and directly as I can: I’m in,” he said during the call, according to Politico.

He added: “I’m not going away. I’m in this race until the end, and we’re going to win.”

Harris echoed his sentiments, saying his team will not give in and will “follow the lead of our president.”

“We will fight and we will win,” she said, according to Politico.

Biden is trying to maintain his team’s support as he faces mounting pressure to withdraw from the race after his disastrous performance at the June 27 debate.

On Wednesday, a second Democratic lawmaker, Rep. Raúl Grijalva of Arizona, publicly called for Biden’s resignation. Rep. Lloyd Doggett of Texas was the first, calling on the president to resign on Tuesday.

A House Democratic Party aide told Reuters on Tuesday that 25 Democrats are preparing to ask Biden to withdraw from the race.

Biden’s debate performance has also turned off donors. One longtime Democratic donor, Whitney Tilson, wrote on X on Saturday that he felt “misled” by Biden’s poor performance.

“If the man I saw at the debate is the real Joe Biden, then it would be a waste of my time and money to support him because he has virtually no chance of beating Trump,” Tilson wrote.

Biden representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.
