Noem says choosing a woman as Trump’s running mate would be “useful.”

Governor of South Dakota Kristi Noem (R) said former President Trump choosing a woman as his running mate would be “beneficial” for him.

“I think that would be beneficial, according to the polls I’ve seen for him and from a lot of swing states, that having a woman helping his campaign makes a difference,” she said on CNN’s “State of the Union” at the time he was asked whether Trump should choose a woman as his vice president.

Noem, a Trump vice presidential hopeful, told co-host Dana Bash that “all the polls are telling him in the swing that having a woman on the ticket helps him win.”

“One in four Republican women are undecided because they want a woman to talk to them about the issues they care about. And women are not monolithic. They don’t care about just one issue,” she said.

“They care about health care; they care about their children; they care about their future. It is important to them that they have the opportunity to own a business and have a career. And all of that is threatened [under] Joe Biden, but yes, women’s voices are extremely important,” she added.

Trump has not yet chosen his running mate, but has sent vetting materials to a handful of vice presidential candidates, including North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) and Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Tim Scott (R-S.C. ) and J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), a source confirmed to The Hill.

ABC News reported that Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), Rep. Elise Stefanik (RN.Y.) and Ben Carson also received some material, but it is not clear how much they received.

Noem did not say whether she knew if she was still eligible for the vice presidential spot on Trump’s ticket when pressed by Bash.

“I have told President Trump time and time again that he should choose the one who helps him win. “I have been loyal to him since the very beginning, when he first started running in 2016,” she said.

“He told me that his priority is to choose a running mate who can govern on day one, who has been loyal to him, who has experience and leads companies, knows how to be a CEO, but also supports him in his policy. I do not mind. I love my job in South Dakota. It’s important to me that I want him to win, and he knows I will,” she added.
