NTSB is investigating a small plane crash Saturday night at Bald Point State Park

The National Traffic and Safety Board is investigating the crash of a small plane at Bald Point State Park in Wakulla County.

NTSB tweeted Sunday morning that the agency is “investigating the crash of a Glasair I aircraft near Bald Point, Florida.

Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jeff Yarbrough confirmed the plane crashed offshore Saturday evening, but he said Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission officers led the response because the crash occurred offshore.

He had no further information, including the condition of anyone on board.

When asked for comment, an FWC spokesperson said she was gathering more information about the situation.

A USA TODAY NETWORK editor vacationing in Shell Point reported that the dive team was out Sunday morning and a crime scene had been recorded near Dockside Drive.

Glasair is an aircraft manufacturer based in Arlington, Washington, that produces homebuilt aircraft.
